Located in northeast Iowa about
16 miles from the Mississippi River, this 25-foot
tall mural of "Paula the Cow" greets
visitors to Waukon. The artist, Valerie Miller,
grew up in the Midwest and developed a fascination
with cows. She began painting them while studying
art at Bradley University. A definite sense
of character emanates come from each of her
bovine subjects. Check out some of the 'tude

Miller also paints what she
calls "petrayals," custom portraits
of dogs and other pets. Check
