Like many roadtrippers, I have traveled
much of Route 66 and have very high standards for
any guidebook about the "Mother Road".
As bad luck would have it, on my first pass through
the Drew Knowles' Route 66 Adventure Handbook,
I found a passage about Death Valley Scotty that
was factually inaccurate, and I was tempted to jump
to the conclusion that the rest of the book was
probably flawed. That would have been a mistake
of grand proportions, and if when you read this
book, you also find an example of poor scholarship
in Drew's writing, I urge you to skip to a new page.
This book really is a gem and one that will enrich
anyone's appreciation for traveling old highway
